Chai Concentrate

Chai Concentrate

A homemade chai concentrate is an easy way to keep a flavorful, spiced beverage on hand throughout the week. Slowly simmering the blend creates a strong, aromatic base that can be enjoyed hot or iced, sweetened to taste, and mixed with your favorite milk.

This recipe works with any of our chai blends, so you can choose your favorite flavor or the variety that aligns with the kind of support you’re looking for. Make one batch, store it in the fridge, and enjoy chai throughout the week.

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce Herban Tapestry Chai Blend (any variety)
  • 6-8 cups of water
  • Sweetener of choice
  • Organic muslin bag (optional)
  • To make a latte, 4-8oz milk of choice

Instructions

  1. Add 1 oz of chai blend to a pot with 6–8 cups of water. For easier cleanup, place the chai in an organic muslin bag before adding it to the pot (optional).
  2. Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 1 hour.
  4. Remove from the heat. Strain out the chai, or simply remove the muslin bag, and allow the concentrate to cool.
  5. Transfer the concentrate to a clean glass container and sweeten to taste. Refrigerate for up to 7 days.

To Make a Chai Latte

For a hot chai latte, warm your milk of choice, then combine with chai concentrate. Start with equal parts concentrate and milk and adjust to taste.

For an iced chai latte, fill a glass with ice, add chai concentrate, and top with cold milk of choice. Start with equal parts concentrate and milk and adjust to taste.
