Elderberry Syrup

Elderberry Syrup

Elderberry syrup is a rich, antioxidant-packed blend known for supporting immune health and helping the body stay resilient through seasonal shifts. Naturally high in vitamin C–supportive compounds and plant polyphenols, elderberries are often used to support recovery, soothe the throat, and promote overall wellness. This simple syrup is an easy way to incorporate herbal support into your day, whether taken by the spoonful or added to tea and sparkling drinks.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup dried Elderberries
  • 3.5 cups filtered water
  • 1 cup raw honey, cane sugar, or maple syrup
  • Optional additions: cinnamon, clove, allspice, orange slices, or preferred spices

Instructions

  1. Combine the elderberries, water, and optional additions in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for about 45 minutes, allowing the liquid to reduce.
  2. Strain the liquid through a fine mesh strainer, gently pressing or mashing the berries to exrtract as much of the concentrated mixture as possible.
  3. While the liquid is still warm, stir in your sweetener of choice until fully incorporated. The added sweetener helps preserve the syrup and supports a refrigerator shelf life of approximately 4-6 weeks.
